The English team has been giving a mouthful to Indian players, when they are on the pitch, especially when India is batting, But, Indian players also responded to their mouthful by some attacking shots during the game. It is the best way to silence them.
EVEN BEFORE the England team arrived in
India for the ODI series, everyone knew that the series would not be very friendly, as India had the lost the series in a very humiliating fashion when India last toured England. Both teams were fired up for the series as many had seen it as a revenge series for India, where as the English team were a confident outfit with a spring in their side.
What we have seen during the series is that the England team have looked aggressive in their approach towards the Indian team and
MS Dhoni does not seem to be very pleased with it, as reported by espn.co.uk. Dhoni is okay with some chit chat that takes place between the bowler and the batsmen of the opposite teams. But, it is very important for players not to cross the line, which the English team has done so in the recent ODI series.
The English team were using an approach, where they would be able to disturb the Indian batsmen, when they were playing well. This approach was primarily used by the English bowlers when they were on the field. It seems that the English players wanted to play into the minds of the young Indian batsmen, especially some of those batsmen who lacked experience at the international level. To some extent, they were successful.
Indian players such as Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli had enough experience in their kitty, when players like T. Bresnan, G. Swann were saying something to the batsmen. They responded back with boundaries to the fence and some mouthful to silence them.
At an age where the sport in itself is aggressive by nature, it is understandable to see some players getting into the batsmen’s head and trying to scalp their wicket. But it is very essential not to get over excited and cross the line.
