ENGLISH VINGLISH, one of the most awaited films of Bollywood this year has been creating a buzz since a long time now, and creating curiosity among fans. Now, there is a two-minute promo trailer and the film is slated to be released in September. Sridevi is still looks fabuolous. As per R.Balki English Vinglish was written with actress Sridevi in mind. Balki’s wife Gauri Shinde has directed the movie. This is a rare thing for a film that marks the majestic return of Sridevi to the film after long 15 years.
Sridevi was seen in many Tamil and Malayalam movies. Some of her best Malayalam movies are Aalinganam, Kuttavum Sikshaiyum, Aadhyapaadam, Aa Nimisham. But in 1976, she got a major break in Tamil movies in the lead role where she got roles against Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth. In 1978, she made her entry in Hindi films with Solva Saawan, which unfortunately did not succeed.
But, her second film Himmatwala was a super duper hit. The movie made her a star overnight. Thereafter, she signed the film Sadma, which brought her lot of appreciation. Chandni brought her in the list of one of the highest paid actresses of Bollywood, as per The Times of India. Sridevi had an affair with the Bollywood actor Mithun Chakravorty. But, the relationship came to an end, when Mithun did not divorce his wife Yogita Bali. On June 2, 1996, Sridevi tied the wedding knot with the film producer Boney Kapoor.
They have two daughters named Janvi and Khushi. She did a lot of films with her brother-in-law Anil Kapoor. But after Judaai, in 1997, she took a break from the film industry, for upbringing her two daughters. She got the Filmfare Award for Tamil film Meendum Kokilaa and the Filmfare Best Actress Award for Chaalbaaz and Filmfare Best Actress Award for Lamhe. Sridevi ruled the silver screen in the 80's.
Her return to the big screen with a bang in English Vinglish after one and a half decades is a good news for her film fans. The film is shot interestingly. The trailer gives us an idea what the film is all about. In a two minute trailer, Sridevi was shown reading a Censor Board's film certificate and she was seen struggling with English words. The story is about a middle class woman trying to learn English to impress her husband and her family. She resorts to malapropisms, which suits her role in the film. She is essaying the central role of a housewife, who enrolls for an English speaking course. Age cannot wither Sridevi’s beauty. The film also features French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain and Priya Anand.
Amitabh Bachchan will also be making a guest appearance and will share screen space with Sridevi after 18 years. The duo last starred together in Khuda Gawah.The promo of the film has been released and fans cannot wait to see their dazzling diva on the silver screen again.
