A perfect cup of Cappuccino is no more confined to the branded CCD outlets as they are about to launch brewing system in the market. With little practice, anyone can get a perfect cuppa of coffee at home.
SINCE STARBUCKS is about to make an entry into the Indian market, Coffee Cafe Day (CCD) is trying best to maintain grip on its market share. They have recently launched the Coffee Day WakeCup, a single serve coffee brewing system. The basic system costs 4000 rupees and the automatic coffee brewing system costs 5000 rupees. According to a news report, all the 1200 outlets of
India would have the system at the initial phase.
According to an article in samachar.com, the capsules that would brew the coffee would be made at the retail store at a price point of Rs. 10. Presently the CCD makes coffee with two simpler system the Plunger (French press) and the Stovetop Espresso Maker, priced at Rs 275 and Rs 300 respectively.
There are a number of ifs and buts that CCD would take into account once they enter the market to sell the coffee maker. With the system they would actually give competitions to big brands such as Prestige, Bajaj, Conti and Morphy Richards. Moreover, Indians, who are comfortable to make coffee the simple way, would have to be educated to brew their coffee.
The tea is also a very important competitor in India and even now, Indians like to have a cup of tea after office than coffee. However, after a market research, CCD hopes that once disposable incomes improve, people would be inclined to drink coffee at home, as coffee is viewed as an indulgence, the same way it happened in China. People would like the idea, provided that CCD does efficient after-sales service team in which the company has little or no experience.
