Chelsea will take on Aston Villa later today, at Stamford Bridge, which would also be the last match of the year for both the teams. Both teams would be keen for a victory.
STAMFORD BRIDGE would play host to Chelsea and Aston Villa, as they would be involved in one of the last match of the EPL for the year 2011. Both teams would be looking to finish the year on a high with a victory. It could be a perfect gift for their respective fans for the
New Year. Chelsea are currently placed fourth on the EPL table with 34 points, whereas Aston Villa lies on twelfth place with just 20 points.
Chelsea would be considered favourite to walk away with the game, as they have some great players in their line up, and especially players upfront belong to a league of their own. Players such as Torres, Drogba, Kalou, and Sturridge are names that would easily terrorise defenders around the
world. Aston Villa is aware of the threat that these players possess to their team. Their defense line comprising of Terry, Cole, and Alex looks solid to give a tough time to the Villa attackers.
Aston Villa does not have a good away record as they have just won 1 game. They need to correct that record and it would be great if they improve upon it at Stamford Bridge, which would give them confidence to play against stronger oppositions at their own backyard. They too have some players such as Albrighton, N’Zogbia, Agbonlahor, Bent, who on a given day could make life difficult for the defenders. But, they need to push their game a notch higher if they are to register an important victory against Chelsea.
Chelsea would be missing Ivanovic and Mikel from their line up due to injuries, which would not be making a huge difference as they have good depth in their squad. Aston Villa would miss out on the services of Heskey along with Given, both are considered to be an important member of their squad. But, they have to move on and play without them. Irrespective of the injuries, both teams are sure to give their best, which counts the most for their respective fans.
