In spirituality, the notion of equanimity, seen as an unperturbed and balanced state of mind, has been stressed. It is a state of calmness of, control over and composure of mind reflected through by remaining undisturbed by worldly experiences or exposure to other's words and actions.
Shrimad
Bhagwad Gita views equanimity as an act of performing one's duty with equipoise
and remaining unperturbed in face of dualities or keeping a balance of mind in
all circumstances.
Patanjali has deemed equanimity as the most important tenet of a
yoga practice to be attained through regular meditation leading to sound mental
health and balance.
