The deadly H1N1 flu has sickened about 50 million Americans, killing about 10,000 as per the new estimates that was released by the Federal Officials on Thursday. Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that about 1 in every 6 Americans have had H1N1 Flu.
The estimates are for the first 7 months of the pandemic from April till mid November. The new figures shows a big increase from its previous estimated which had about 22 million Americans sickened and killing about 4000 through mid October.
CDC officials said that the jump is mainly because of the peak of a second wave of illness that started after early October. It also estimates that nearly 200000 people were admitted to hospitals through mid November. It figure is almost the same which normally occurs in an entire winter flu season.The largest porportion of the reported H1N1 flue hospitalizations and deaths are in the non elderly adults. According to CDC, more than 75% of the deaths were of people aged between 18 to 64.H1N1 symptons:Trouble breathing, including rapid breathing. Gray or bluish skin color Not drinking enough fluids Sleeping constantly and not interacting when awake Being especially irritable Not urinating or no tears when crying The symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough.
