Ex-CM of Bengal now defending criminals
Ex-chief minister of Bengal has come in defence of a criminal, who has been booked after 10 years, and tries to justify his acts.

MR. SUSANTA Ghosh committed heinous crimes during his hay days. Now when he is finally booked, ex- CM Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharaya has come to his defence and is trying to justify his activities. What a joke?

At one time, Mr. Bhattacharaya kept his distance from criminals and other such people who disobeyed law and thus earned respect. But now he is not only defending them, he is also trying to justify their acts. It is a shame.

One after another the powerful leaders of his party violated law; they took away husbands from their wives, fathers from their children and sons from mothers’ lap. Does he expect forgiveness for this irreparable loss? Where was he when these crimes were committed? If Hitler was still alive would it be possible for the people to forgive him for his barbaric deeds?

But look at Mr. Bhattacharaya, he has come out in public and is trying to defend a person who has a criminal record. May I ask him how he would react to the legal action taken by International Court Of Justice, The Hague, against the Kosovo war as well as Nazi criminals?

Mr. Bhattacharaya is another edition of Hitler, who deserves equal punishments because the crimes committed by Susanta Ghosh happened during his tenure either as a minister in Jyoti Basu’s government or as a Chief Minister. Now instead of apologising for his past crimes he is trying to teach the gospel of forgive and forget.

Mr. Bhattacharaya please understand that the people attacking your supporters have nothing to do with any political party, they are the victims of the atrocities imposed on the people during your tenure as the CM.

The Communist part of India was formed by educated intellectuals, who wanted peaceful class struggle. But what you and your predecessor did was the opposite. You brought in musclemen, formed an armada and tried to copy the China type rule, forgetting that India is a democratic country and there is an Election Commission that cannot be influenced by money or power.

Taking your party’s activities into account, all that can be said is that the time has come for CPM to become a non political party. The party needs to be formed again with intellectuals who understand the basic philosophy of Communism. Since it is India, a punch of Gandhiji’s peaceful methods is a must. This will make the people believe that CPM is their party and it is for them. Only after this is done, could CPM think of returning to politics. Otherwise, it will be wiped out and become history. So, to stop the rot first issue a public apology as Japanese Prime Minister did on behalf of his country. This will generate sympathy among the people, which is very important for the future of your party.
