Ex-Thai PM sacks Eriksson
After creating a storm in his country, Thaksin Shinawatra is making news in England also. But this time too, it is for the wrong reasons. His sacking of Manchester City's coach, Sven-Goran Erikkson betray signs of some foul play.

THE BBC Sports webpage, has stated that the former Thai Prime Minister and current owner of Manchester City football club, Thaksin Shinawatra has told Sven-Goran Eriksson that he is not the right man to coach Manchester City. The news was equivalent to a volcano exploding with rage in my head.

Jesus Christ once said, “He is, who is without sin, cast the first stone.” Eriksson has been the right man to coach in England, especially Manchester City. He has been able to rebuild a team and probably save it from relegation. His performance as the coach of the English national team had also been commendable.

Shinawatra cannot comment on Eriksson’s performance as coach, when he was not in contact with him during the second half of the season. The coach wanted to sign new players but had to wait for the ex-PM’s approval, which never came. Eriksson is a kind and decent man, as compared to Shinawatra.

In my opinion, the Thai PM was never the right man to own the club. He is the right man for one thing only and that is money. Shinawatra is not only a money making machine but he is also an individual of dubious character, who got rich by stealing his country’s wealth. His contract with Eriksson was for five years under the condition that Manchester City remains in the top ten at the end of the 2007-2008 season.

The club is currently ranked ninth, with 55 points, and can still remain within the top ten. It appears that there is something more than the monetary factor. It is quiet possible that Shinawatra may have been jealous or envious of a person like Eriksson.

The jealousy and envy can be explained by the fact that there was no contact between the two, during the second half of the season. The only contact that they had was regarding Eriksson’s sacking. Shinawatra knows nothing about football, and even lesser, about governing a country.

A poll, which included 542 people, revealed that all the people polled were of the view that Eriksson should have remained as coach, while Shinawatra should have been removed as the owner of Manchester City and deported to Thailand to face criminal charges (although that will never happen). It remains to be seen what will transpire but the club supporters should protest against this decision by a corrupt person, who treats their club like a personal property.

As a real MCF fan I will suspend my support for MCF until Mr. Thaksin leave the club and I advise all other MCF fans to do the same. We can not just accept the way Mr. Thaksin is managing the club and insulting MCF staff, fans, players and not least Mr. Eriksson.I know that this will hurt the club but I believe it is for the good in the long run.
