Exclusion of Taj in 'Phir Mile Sur' disappoints Agra residents
Taj Mahal which has been voted world's best wonder few years back could not attract the makers of 'Phir Mile Sur', the fresh video of 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara'. Whatever the reasons are the makers of the video have disappointed the people of Agra.
HOLLYWOOD’S LEGENDRY filmmaker and actor Sir Ben Kingsley wants to shoot his upcoming flick in the shadow of Taj. Many young tourists from all over the world come to see the city only to see the memorandum of love. They want their love tale to be remembered like the love story of Shahjahan and Mumtaz.

Taj Mahal which has been voted world’s best wonder few years back could not attract the makers of ‘Phir Mile Sur’, the fresh video of ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’. Whatever the reasons are but the producer and director duo Arti and Kailash Surendranath have disappointed the agraites.

Hina Gupta, a student, feels this is not fair for all those who love the Taj Mahal. She says, “If they can show Bandra Worli sea link and Howrah Bridge then why they ignored Taj Mahal? I have seen the video and I liked it very much but I really missed my city in it. Agra should have also been the part of the video.” Hina asked that if there is anything could happen they should do it in the sake of Indian tourism.

In 1988, a song based upon the theme of national integration launched by Doordarshan ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ become like a national anthem for all the Indians. In that video Taj Mahal and Yamuna were the main features which symbolisd Uttar Pradesh. The 16 minute fresh video of ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ tried to focus upon national integration.

Monika Jain, working as a radio jockey in one of the reputed FM channels says, “How can someone ignore Taj Mahal, if he wants to spread ‘unity in diversity’ message amongst the people. Everyday thousands of people from different parts of the nation and world, religion and cast come to witness this amazing structure.” Monika is very upset and said that to ignore Taj means ignoring the state. It should not be done as Uttar Pradesh and Taj Mahal, are very important on a world map.

Sixty eight different people from different fields have played a major role. There is someone who thinks that the present time Taj Mahal is not worthwhile for the people of India. Dr Lal Bahadur Singh Chauhan, a freedom fighter, a writer and recently awarded with a Padamshree says, “I watched ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ and bit amazed to see that there were Kutub Meenar, Howrah Bridge and few other important structures but not my Taj. Yes I am little disappointed.”

Why Taj has not been shot in this wonderful video, can only be answered by the makers. But it is true that agraites are missing the identity of the city.

Hi Recha, nice 2 read ur article on Taj, I m from Agra and had written about Agra.......nice article. Recha it is becoz of self-centric politicians and lethargic gov officers, Agra still lacs international look, just imagine we don't even have a single international stadium. If small cities like Faridabad and Gurgaon can have international stadium, why can't Agra.
