A NEW study brings out a way to help men keep away from heart stroke. It says that moderate-to-heavy exercise regime may help men keep heart stroke at bay, as compared to those who take up no physical activity.

The reserchers report says that moderate-to-high intensity exercise such as jogging, swimming or tennis may help reduce stroke risk in older men but not in women.

The study involved 3,298 New Yorkers living in northern Manhattan with an average age of 69. Over a nine-year period 238 strokes occurred among the whole group. Men who participated in intensity activities were 63 percent less likely to have a stroke, said lead researcher Joshua Z Willey, MD, of Columbia University Medical Center and New York Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia.

Heart Stroke is the leading cause of disability in the United States and the third leading cause of death.

With these findings, bring to fore the importance of exercise in everyday routine.
