Raahgiri is incorporating new things so that they can evolve and suit almost everyone in the Millennium City. In order to give more time to the participants of the Raahgiri day, the organisers have decided that from May 18, they would extend the day and make it from 6 am to 6 pm. The venue would be the same and they would keep 4.5 kms road near Galleria Market partially open for the Gurgaon people to participate in the street festival.
This plan would come into play from May 18 and one lane each near the venue would be reserved for Raahgiri on Sunday. Cyclist, pedestrians and others would be allowed to come down and enjoy the summer day. Many people, who are not directly involved with the street festival did not take to the streets due to the early timings, but with the new plan this would be resolved.
Talking about the one lane move, Sarika Panda of EMBARQ India
told timesofindia.com that they wants to make segregated NMT lanes a more lasting presence in this city. Adding further she also said, "We will see how the participants respond to this move, and will continue accordingly. We are trying to talk to DLF also about getting the other Raahgiri loop around DLF phase V to be a part of this 12-hour one-lane model."
The Palam Vihar loop would not be taken into the plan and would operate in the usual manner.
