Facebook marks Mother's Day with temporary features of purple flower reaction button and text features
The most used social networking site Facebook, has reminded the users to call their mothers on Mother's Day. It is through the 'purple flower' temporary reaction icon to express the feeling of gratitude and affection. Also, Facebook's messenger has provided a sticker pack with a Mother's Day theme to commemorate the annual event.

According to Facebook, the users in many countries including India will be able to leave virtual flowers as reactions for a limited time as event-based option. However, in those places where it is available on Sunday, May 9, it will disappear from the options come Monday morning.

It is informed that, the first feature is an experimental reaction called 'thankful' that will be represented by a flower icon. The special reaction will be placed in between the "love" and "haha" reactions that appear when users tap and hold on the "like" button for posts.

Facebook is going to experiment more with the feature in the future as sponsored reactions. Furthermore, this Mother's Day, the company's communications app Messenger is also making a flower button next to the text box. Tapping the icon will cause the message or image being sent through the app to be animated with flowers.
