MC DONALD has signed on as an early user of Facebook's new location feature called the Geolocation which could launch as early as this month. The new feature will give users the ability to include their location within a status update. The same tool will also be offered to marketers for advertisement purposes.
Using the new feature, the McDonald's will reportedly let users see featured products targeted to their location. Checking in, as per Geolocation , is the action of pinging friends on your arrival at a certain location, be it a restaurant, bar, or cafe. Geolocation is now going to be the next big feature coming to Facebook, making use of the millions who log in to the social network from their mobile devices. The users will have ultimate control over how closely they are being followed. If you don't want people to know where you are right now, turn off the application. If you are feel social and want to connect with friends, turn it on. Facebook is reportedly providing McDonalds an application by the use of which its customers receive rewards such as coupons for featured products a few days later.
With more than 450 million users worldwide, and around 100 million of them update their status from mobile devices, Facebook could be a winner with this feature.
