THE SOCIAL networking website Facebook has turned six in style, redesigning its homepage to mark the occasion. The sixth anniversary also saw the website touching the 400 million user mark.

The latest homepage redesign has happened to improve navigation to the multiple features on the website. Jing Chen, a Facebook engineer said, "We think sharing information about the applications you use enriches the shared experience between you and your friends. We hope the simplified design of the home page will make it easy for you to stay connected with the people, applications and activities that matter the most to you."

Many core fearures hace been put on the homepage, providing alerts on messages, notifications and requests here. Pop lists of friend suggestions in the firends link and a list of Facebook applications under Applications have also been added. A new account menu has also been put on the Facebook profile page, which allows users to access their account settings.

This is not the only thing that Facebook has planned for its sixth anniversary. As per reports, the networking website is planning to redo its internal email program and launch a completely new email service in its place. This new email program, which is rumoured to be known as project Titan would iron out all limitations from the currently existing email feature and allow users to use it without going through Facebook.
