NATIONAL ASSEMBLY Standing Committee on sports has summoned officials of Ministry of Interior for allowing bogus kabaddi to proceed for India without having a No-Objection (NOC) from Ministry of Sports.

Meeting of Standing Committee is scheduled on October 2, next month. Officials of Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) would also participate in this meeting to present their case, sources at PKF said.

Sources further stated that Standing Committee has summoned DG, Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) and Secretary, Interior to listen to their point of view on allowing the fake kabaddi team to tour India without taking a NOC from Ministry of Sports.

“Chairman standing committee on sports Iqbal Muhammad Ali has made a telephonic call to Secretary of Kabaddi Federation Muhammad Sarwar and assured his full support to PKF on the matter of allegedly bogus kabaddi team which is now present in India as a fake National team of Pakistan.”

Iqbal also said that a standing committee would investigate the whole matter and would bring the responsible to the fore. He said that National Assembly standing committee has took serious notice of allegedly kabaddi team which proceeded to Indian as a National Kabaddi team without informing Government of Pakistan and decided to probe this sensitive matter.

The bogus kabaddi team from Pakistan was stopped by FIA at Wagah border twice earlier for not having NOC from Ministry of sports to visit India. Every Pakistani team that goes to participate in international events needed a NOC from Ministry of Sports. There is law in Pakistan that without NOC no team of any sports can leave the country for the participation in event but in case of allegedly fake kabaddi team, Ministry of Interior had ordered the border authorities to allow kabaddi team to proceed to India.

Pakistan Kabaddi Federation had informed Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan Sports Board and relevant authorities about the allegedly bogus kabaddi team belongs to Lahore which was planning to travel to India.

Yesterday, Ministry of Sports had also clarified that it had not issued NOC to fake kabaddi team and also there no connection of Ministry with the team. Ministry also declared Pakistan Kabaddi Federation as a genuine Kabaddi Federation of Pakistan.
