Guru Dutt was a very famous Director. Even most of the film stars admit that he was one of the best film director ever born. Yet, he was always ridden with anxiety and took to various intoxicants. His failure in love with Waheeda Rehman and his loss in business made him take his own life. His wife, Geeta Dutt who was a very famous singer took to heavy drinking after the death of her husband. She too died at a young age. Meena Kumari, the tragedy queen of the Indian Cinema and a very famous actress always suffered from loneliness.
She wrote in her diary, "Jism Tanha Hai, Jan Tanha. Dil Mila Hai Kahan Kahan Tanha" (My body is lonely and so is my soul. My heart is lonely everywhere I go.) She had a failure in love with Kamal Amarohi and drank herself to death. Similarly, the much acclaimed, Sanjeev Kumar, the famous actor took to heavy drinking after Hema Malini refused to marry him and died at a quite young age.
There are so many instances from the film industry which makes people famous but lonely. There is then the case of Praveen Babby, the famous actress dying of mental illness called Schizophrenia. She too was unsuccessful in love.
In politics, even a Mahatma Gandhi had to face death at the hands of Hindu nationalist because the former was going to give money to Pakistan which the Hindu nationalist thought was an anti-national act. Then Indira Gandhi too fell to the assassins' bullets and was seldom happy because of continuous pressure of staying at top in politics to remain famous.
The Indian politicians are so insecure though famous that they keep so many bodyguards to protect themselves from enemies. They could hardly be happy. Out of India, we have the assassinations of the famous Abraham Lincoln who kept America united and John F. Kennedy, the famous boyish looking President of America. It is also said that Hitler could not sleep without taking sleeping pills and committed suicide when he was defeated.
In the field of literature, we have the famous Norwegian playwright, Ibsen who suffered from Schizophrenia and died a man man. Similar was the case with famous German philosopher, Nietzsche. He too suffered from Schizophrenia and died a mad man. Similarly, there are numerous cases of famous men from the field of sports who enjoyed but momentary success and then died in oblivion.
