Fans react to India's embarrassing defeat at the hands of English

Fans were disappointed after Indian cricket team lost the home series to England after 28 years. The expectations that India will avenge the earlier summer loss to England added to their disappointment. But, that was not to be and India lost the series 1-2.

MANY INDIAN fans now believe that the captain MS Dhoni should be sacked while some feel there is need for some changes in the team and youngsters should be given a fair chance.

An Indian fan told NNIS: “Dhoni should retire from the game or no place should be granted to the player (in the Indian team).” Other fans who also felt on the same lines, said that for the next series against Pakistan and Australia, Gautam Gambhir should be made the Indian captain and this might "help us win, but if Dhoni is the captain we will lose against Pakistan and Australia also".

BCCI and the Indian team selection committee is under huge pressure to sack Dhoni, which in all probability might not happen, as the Indian team overall has a good track record under Dhoni's captaincy, though it is in the recent past that the team has not been functioning well under Dhoni. Indian fans have a short-term memory and react to wins and losses spontaneously. Indian players are heroes, when they win and zeroes, when they lose. The Indian players take this as a part and parcel of the game.

Some cricket fans feel it is the time some youngsters are given a good chance in the national team. “BCCI should take action. BCCI should think on the team structure - chance to youngsters,” said a cricket fan. Though, the BCCI has not taken any action, but some players might well have to face the selectors' axe. Another ardent cricket fan said that the senior cricketers did not put up a good performance, the opening pair was also not good and after India won the first Test match, they were over-confident.

It was indeed right for the Indian fans to react in such a manner, as India has some of the best players in international cricket, but still, their failure frustrates Indian fans all over the world.
