FBI clears Hillary Clinton two days ahead of elections
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has said that it stands by the result of its investigation into the Hillary Clinton mails.

The FBI investigation had ruled that no criminal charges can be warranted against Hillary Clinton for using a private email server for government work.

While the allegations against Hillary had caused a major dent in her campaign, the clearance has come just two days before the United States goes to presidential elections.

The announcement was made by FBI Director James Comey in a letter to Congress, saying that the agency had thoroughly investigated the newly discovered emails but has found no reason to change the results of the investigation that it had carried out in July.

"During that process, we reviewed all of the communications that were to or from Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state. Based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July," Comey said.

Trump had questioned the thoroughness of the FBI review and had even claimed that he was confident the issue would not go away.

"The investigation will go on, the rank-and-file special agents won't let her get away with her terrible crimes," Trump told supporters in Michigan.

Signaling positivity, US stock index futures rose more than 1 per cent after the FBI announcement and the US dollar also strengthened in Asian trading against major currencies. Markets have constantly been favouring Clinton over Trump and with presidential elections coming closer, global financial markets slipped last week as opinion polls showed the presidential race tightening.
