Federer cruises past Dudi Sela to reach third round of US Open
Roger Federer was looking at his menacing best as he defeated Dudi Sela in straight sets, where the score read 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2. The match just lasted for 77 minutes. He would face Marin Cilic in the third round of the competition.
ROGER FEDERER looked in great touch in the second round of the US Open 2011, as he managed to defeat Dudi Sela in straight sets, with the score reading 6-3,6-2 and 6-2. The match lasted for 1 hour and 17 minutes. World Number 3, Roger Federer, outclassed his opponent, who is ranked 93 in the ATP circuit in all departments of the game.
The crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium witnessed some great baseline winners from the Swiss, who is very eager to win the tournament, as he has not had a good season. He had a very good service game too, as he was delivering aces after aces. Many experts were very critical about his game, when he defeated Santiago Giraldo in the first round of the competition. This time around, they were all praise for Roger who put up a splendid show on the court.
Federer has never lost a single second round match in his grand slam career, as his record stands at 44 wins and no losses after his victory against Dudi Sela. It is also his 225th Grand slam win of his career and he is just 8 victories behind Jimmy Connors’ record, who has 233 victories to his name.After his convincing win, he would be facing 27th seed Marin Cilic in the third round of the competition. Cilic also put up an impressive performance against an Australian player, Bernard Tomic. He in fact, demolished the Aussie player as the score line suggests 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2. An interesting match awaits us when both these players clash for their third round match, but Roger would definitely be the favourite leading into the match.
