ROGER FEDERER looked in good touch in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters at Cincinnati as he defeated the Argentinean player, Del Potro, in straight sets. The score read 6-3 7-5 in favour of the Swiss player. He has, thus, marched into the third round of the competition. The match lasted for just 92 minutes.
The Swiss player will be facing an American player, James Blake, who has enjoyed a good run in recent months. He defeated Fabio Fognini 6-4, 6-2 in his second round match. Federer has not had a good run in the recent months, where he has been losing frequently. His last loss came in the third round last week in the Rogers Cup against Jo Wilifried Tsonga.
Federer put up a great service game as he managed to hit 12 aces during his second round match. The world number three looked in great shape as he was playing some great shots with both his backhand and forehand to outdo his opponent. Federer was expecting a tougher clash against the Argentinean player, but he did not break much sweat during the game by finishing the match in straight sets.
With the US Open just round the corner, Federer’s match against Blake will be a great contest for both the players as the winner will be confident of performing well in the US Open.
