Roger Federer put up an amazing display of Tennis at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, where he defeated Juan Monaco in the fourth round of the competition to reach the quarter finals of the competition. The score read 6-1, 6-2 and 6-0.
ROGER FEDERER came up with a brilliant performance in the fourth round of the US Open 2011, where he cleaned up Juan Monaco, an Argentinean player, in straight sets as the score read 6-1, 6-2 and 6-0, at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. The way he outclassed his opponent in the match must have sent alarming signals for the rest of the players in the tournament. He was the Federer of old, where each shot he played had magic written all over it.
The Swiss player was aggressive throughout the match as he was playing both his forehand and backhand with utmost ease past his opponents, down the line. During the match, he hit a total number of 42 winners. The match lasted for just 1 hour and 22 minutes.
Roger Federer has not had a good season this year as compared to his previous years where he has won many tournaments. Several critics have also said that the player is past his prime, but it is time for the player to prove his critics wrong. If he plays the way he did against Monaco, there is a great chance that he could win the US Open. The real test awaits him in the future rounds of the competition, where his opponent would also be on the same scale. The player must be ready to face his next opponent, Jo Tsonga in the quarter finals of the competition, who is very strong and has the game to upset the Swiss player. It could be a revenge time for Roger as it was Tsonga who ousted him from his favourite slam, Wimbledon 2011. If Federer manages to win the match, then there is a high probability where we could witness the mother of all matches in the semi – finals of the competition. It could be Roger Federer against Novak Djokovic in a mouth watering semi finals clash.
