Industry body FICCI's task force on Uttarakhand rehabilitation will build affordable houses, train youths, provide clean water, sanitation & will create disaster management portal in the state.
As part of FICCI's rehabilitation initiative for the State, FICCI has constituted a Task Force for Uttarakhand Disaster Rehabilitation chaired by Sudha Pillai, Former Member Secretary, Planning Commission.
The task force has identified specific projects to be implemented in the state. Some of the implementations have already begun in the following areas:
FICCI is facilitating Habitat for Humanity to build 100 temporary housing units and 200 permanent houses. Construction of 100 houses has already begun in areas identified jointly with the State Government.
FICCI proposes to train 5000 youths in Uttarakhand in partnership with ILO, L&T as well as other vocational training providers. L&T Construction Training Academy will train 500 youth in construction skills - Masonry, Bar-bending & Shuttering Carpentry starting September 9, 2013 at the L&T Centre in Pilkhua (Ghaziabad) in Uttar Pradesh
and undertake funding for the first batch of 100 persons.
ILO will fund the training of another 100 during this calendar year and remaining 300 in the next calendar year. The beneficiaries are being identified by the State. State's chief minister has assured his support to the programme.
FICCI along with the Ministry of Rural Development is also exploring Ajeevika Skills Development Programme for skills training of youth.
Clean Water and Sanitation
FICCI is exploring the installation of bio-digester toilet clusters (1 male + 1 female per cluster) and RO units around the four Dhams. Bio-digester toilets and RO units in Kedarnath and other Dham areas will be followed by identifying other sites for installing.
Creation of Uttarakhand Disaster Management Portal with cloud sourcing capabilities. This is an in-kind contribution of NIIT-GIS Ltd. (Esri India) for the benefit of stakeholders and will be available in the public domain.
