FIFA World Cup : Italy Vs Uruguay
Italy and Uruguay were considered to be the favourites to reach the knock out stage from their tough group, which comprised of England and Costa Rica. But, after Costa Rica defeated both Italy and England, the underdogs of the group have reached the round of 16, while Italy and England encounter tonight for another spot to progress further in the competition.

Both teams put up a good show when they played against England, where the three lions were unlucky to lose the game 2-1, on both instances, which resulted in England being knocked out of the competition. Hence, the game between Italy and Uruguay becomes a virtual knock out.

Uruguay would be pinning their hopes to a large extent on Luis Suarez, who single handedly helped Uruguay defeat England, scoring a brace. But it might not be an easy outing against the Italian defenders, who are rock solid at the back. It is at this juncture, where his striking partner Edison Cavani needs to support the Liverpool striker.

While Italy would count on the rich experience of Andrea Pirlo, who has looked in great form , in spite of his age. Mario Balotelli also needs to be closely defended by the Uruguayans, for the player is all about class, though, unpredictable. On his given day, he can rip any defense apart.

But, Italy would be missing the services of Daniele De Rossi, as he picked up a knee injury in the last match against Costa Rica. Marco Verratti could be an ideal replacement for the Italians.

One can expect a tough clash between the two sides, who not only depend on their star players, but are a hard working unit, where they are going to make life tough for their opponent. The last time these two teams clashed was in the Confederations Cup 2013, where Italy turned victorious via penalty kicks. Even a draw for the Italians tonight would be enough to grab the second spot, while Uruguay needs a win to reach the round of 16.
