FIFA World Cup 2014: Spain Vs Netherlands
Two giants of world football, Spain and Netherlands will clash against one another later today in the Group B opener. The fixtures is a repeat of the 2010 World Cup finals, where Spain turned victorious. These two teams are pitted in a group, where both teams are expected to go through, as Chile and Australia are the lower ranked teams in the group.

The defending champions, Spain with their star players are one of the favourites to once again lift the title, but the competition is going to be tough for the Spaniards. Netherlands would prove to be their first and the biggest test in the group and may also determine, which team would progress as group champion.

Going into the game, many might consider Spain as favourites, for they possess some of the best players in the world. Players such as Iniesta, Fabregas, Diego Costa, Silva, Xavi can easily instill fear amongst their opponents. With Spain possessing a host of star players, it is not going to be easy to contain these players for their rivals. It is at this juncture, where the experience of Louis Van Gaal, Netherlands manager comes into the picture.

Van Gaal needs to chalk out plans to fail Spain's tika-tika style of play, in which they excel like no other. Their ball possessing game has been catching the eyes of football fans all over the world and the same style of play has brought laurels to the country, so one can expect the same style when Spain play Netherlands. They would never trade their style of play for anything else.

What makes Spain a huge threat is the chemistry enjoyed between their team mates, as most of the players ply their trade in Spain itself and are primarily players from Barcelona.

Though, Spain may look favourite, one cannot discount Netherlands and their chances for lifting the 2014 FIFA World Cup. They do not have any dearth of quality in their squad as well. In fact, Netherlands must be a confident outfit, for they were one of the first teams from Europe to qualify for the mega tournament.

Players such as Robben, Van Persie, Sneijder, are players who could play an important role, if they are to progress in the competition. These mentioned players have been playing together for years, which only makes their understanding better. The trio could well be playing their last world cup and how badly would they be dreaming of finishing the world cup on a high. But, in order to acquire their dream, it is not only these players but the entire squad, which needs to play as a unit.
