So, let's look at the semi-finalists of the season. England is going to take on Croatia whereas Belgium will be facing France in the semi-finals. On a conventional analogy, England and France should be the hot favourites but the way things have been unfolding so far, it is most likely that Croatia will be seeing the exit door in the next encounter. And contrary to all predictions, Belgium will outplay France to meet England in the finals.
If this equation, as being projected here, proves factual then there are much greater possibilities that Belgium will be the new world champion. I am not going to put forth heavy statistical analysis in favour of my argument but instead, I foresee the victory of Belgium simply relying on the fact that almost all the players of Belgium play in the top most football teams of the English Premier League viz Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham.
There have been so many upsets this year due to the falling standards of football. Big names like Argentina, Brazil and Germany have failed to live up to the expectations of the fans. There has been an emergence of newer teams like Croatia who have proved their mettle on this grand stage. Thus, it appears that the so-called "golden generation" of Belgium will finally deliver at a major tournament and will walk home with the trophy.
