FIFA World Cup: Spain in a do or die situation against Chile
Never did one realise about the fate of the defending champions, Spain, who were considered favourites for World Cup 2014, but presently they are in danger of being eliminated if they lose their game against Chile later today. After having been thrashed by the Dutch side, 5-1, Spain needs to win the game to stay alive in the competition. On the other hand, a victory here for Chile would guarantee them a place in the round of 16.

There is no dearth of class players for Spain, but in their game against Holland, they looked out of touch. They did not resemble the class they had shown in 2010 world cup, which helped them win the world cup in South Africa, though the players are the same with minor changes here and there.

Their star players need to respond to the loss in an emphatic fashion defeating Chile. Against Netherlands, their tiki-taka style did not prove to be efficient, but Del Bosque, their manager, who prides in their style of play would not change their style, while many experts feels that their game has been understood by their opponents, which is making Spain's task more difficult.

After a disastrous performance in the first match, several players could face the axe from the starting eleven, which includes Silva, Xavi etc. Del Bosqe might replace these players with Koke, Pedro, Fabregas etc.

In Chile, Spain has a difficult opponent, who are considered a strong team capable of creating few big upsets. Who knows, Chile's victory against Spain could the first big upset of the competition. One can see Pele's words turning true as well, who had predicted Chile to progress into the knockout stage at the expense of either Spain or Netherlands.

Chile's Atruro Vidal and Alexis Sanchez could pose a huge problem to the Spanish defenders, as they are Chile's best offensive players. Failure to stop these two players could spell trouble for the Spanish side. Apart from the mentioned players, it is Gary Medel, Marcelo Diaz and Jorge Valdivia, who are also going to be equally important, if Chile are to kick Spain out of the tournament.
