Finally its raining in Mumbai!
A long awaited monsoon has finally arrived in Mumbai today. The heavy rain threw life out of gear in the country's financial capital. As a result of heavy rains water-logging, traffic jams have been reported on the western routes and the Central line local trains are running late.

The rains in Mumbai was much needed this time as the Maharashtra government was worried about water shortage as well as power crisis in the state. The water stock across all dams in Maharashtra has gone down to19 per cent, which could lead to water supply cut in Mumbai by 15 to 20 per cent from next week.

The declining water level has already led to the partial shut down of two major power plants, which created a daily load shedding of between 300 to 600 MW. So with this spell today, the BMC has taken a deep breath as the water level will again come to normal if rains continue.

Normally, in Mumbai the monsoon season starts from mid of June, but this time the monsoon arrived late. Even on the first day of July the temperature was recorded as 33.6 degree Celsius, which is record high in July.

The Mumbaikers who were waiting for the monsoon since a long time, have got very happy with the rain showers today. Some of them took the route of twitter to express their elation.
