Equality has always been a desired vision but so far, nowhere in the democratic world, has it been achieved. A non-governmental organisation, Swapn, has come up with a unique initiative known as 'Children's Equality Flash Mob'. The flash mob has been recognised by the The Unique Book of World Records as first of its kind.
Through this flash mob, the NGO is trying to unite children from the privileged as well as the underprivileged sector, thus removing the line between the two stratas of the society. The event, scheduled to take place in Jantar Mantar
on August 17, would see as many as 100 children, sharing a common platform.
Swapn, is the brain child of Dr. Rachna Khanna Singh and Khushi Soni, both from different backgrounds. Talking about the flash mob, Rachana Singh said, “By organizing the flash mob, our intention is to make children aware of the Uttrakhand floods as well as make them sensitive, by bringing the children together in support of the victims. Through our endeavour, we are hoping to impart a sense of equality, humanity and cohesiveness amongst the children. Alongside, the aim of our current initiative is to boost their creativity, self-confidence and enhance a sense of individualism in children from all over Delhi.”
Dance Guru, Shamak Dawar is helping them with their endeavour. Apart from helping the flood victims of Uttrakhand, 2-3 kids would be chosen and trained in dance for employment purposes. The organisers and the children have been practicing tirelessly for the past two months in order to make this event a huge success.
The visionaries of the NGO, Dr. Rachana Singh and Khushi Soni, are experts in their individual fields. Dr. Singh is is a lifestyle expert and heads the Department of Lifestyle Management and Psychology at Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon. Khushi Soni is one of India’s best music composers with his claim to fame being “Chikni Chameli”, “Aashiqui 2” and “Chammak Challo.” Coming from distinct backgrounds, they seek to merge creativity with sensitivity, thereby recognizing the need for holistic, physical, emotional, mental and creative well-being.
