ONE MORE wonder of the world, the machine which can perform two tasks, fly and run on the road, has got a green signal and very soon will be available in the market.
The first flying car of the world is free from the grumble now. It got the green signal from the United States to fly.
The dual purpose machine is developed by the Boston-based Terrafugia Transition. They were working on this since 2006.
Car-cum-plane has got the waiver on its weight from the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Vice president for Terrafugia, Richard Gersh, said, “Our schedule calls for the first delivery to be made prior to the end of 2011. We currently have in excess of 70 orders, which is about a two-year backlog.”
Initially the car cum plane called ‘the flying car’ is priced about 200,000 dollar. The flying car will fly up at a height of to 725 km in the air at a speed of more than 115 km per hour.
It will have a propeller for flight and front-wheel drive on the road. This dual purpose machine can be switched from plane to a car in just 30 seconds.
