Sub-district hospital (SDH) performed its first laparoscopic surgery on November 20, a decade after the machinery was made available. Lack of technical expertise that had rusted the machines for years has finally been provided, much to the delight of locals.
RAISING HOPES amongst the poor and the destitute, SDH Bhaderwah made history by performing its first Laparoscopic surgery on 14-year-old Imran and 30-year-old Waheeda kousar. The Laparoscopic machine was available to the hospital more than a decade ago but lack of technical expertise kept it non-functional. Through sustained efforts of the Directorate of health, Jammu, Laparoscopic machine was made available for two days during a free Laparoscopic camp, organised by son of the soil Dr Shahid Rehman Mughal, who is the deputy Director Health.

Waheeda Kousar and Imran were operated today for laparoscopic Gall bladder by Surgeon Dr. Majid Bashir along with anesthesia specialist, Dr. B.L.Giggo. People of Bhaderwah appreciated the doctor’s team for conducting successful laparoscopic operation.
Pertinent to mention here that a Laparoscopic operation is expensive and for this people had to go to Jammu. They were charged 30 to 40 thousand rupees at different clinics and had to bear other expenses beside fees. Due to this so many poor patients of the entire Doda district had to suffer.
Sunday’s successful operation by doctors in SDH Bhaderwah has generated hopes for miserable and poor patients who cannot afford to go for laparoscopic operation in Jammu. Bhaderwah Development Action Committee President Imtiyaz ul Rehman Butt in a message appreciated the efforts of doctors for conducting successful Laparoscopic operation in the hilly and remote Tehsil of Jammu region in Jammu and Kashmir. Butt appealed to Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, to provide Laparoscopic operation machine in Sub district hospital Bhaderwah as soon as possible as the machine is a available only for a two-day camp in SDH Bhaderwah.
All social, religious and political personalities of the erstwhile Chinab valley appreciated the team of doctors of SDH for successful operation of Laparoscopic operation for the first time in the Chinab Valley.
