First ODI: India outshines England
England suffered a heavy defeat on the hands of the Indian team at Hyderabad in the first ODI, by a big margin of 126 runs. The Indian team defeated the English side in all departments of the game during the match.

THE INDIAN team managed to defeat the English team in the first ODI at Hyderabad by a huge margin of 126 runs. They put up 300 runs on board and England could only score 174 runs, which gave India their first victory against England, as they could not win any match when India toured England last. Before the match started there were several experts who said that the Indian team may be short of experience as many senior pros are missing from action due to injuries. But those players who had been playing with the Indian team for some time now such as Praveen Kumar, Kohli, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni  came up with good performances, hence the Indian team was able to thrash the English team. One could say it was an act of revenge.

MS Dhoni was the top scorer for the team as he scored a breezy 87 runs with a flurry of boundaries and a six to his name. Suresh Raina also played an important role with the bat as he managed to score 61 runs of 55 balls. It was Dhoni and Raina’s partnership that put India in a good stead. The Indian bowlers were also up to the mark - especially spinners such as Jadeja and R. Ashwyn were spot on as they rattled the English batsmen by picking three wickets each. It was a game where India dominated in all departments of the game.

There is nothing much to write home about for the English players as they could not repeat their winning form on Indian soil. Apart from their captain, A.Cook who scored 60 runs, nobody else could come up with a decent score to their name. In bowling department, G. Swann was economical as he conceded only 35 runs in his full quota of 10 overs. It was a disappointing performance by England, overall.

With the second ODI between India and England to be played on 17th of October at Delhi, the Indian team would like to register another win, which would bring them closer to a series win too. On the other hand, England would be going all out to level the series. So, the 2nd ODI holds great importance in the context of the 5 ODI series.
