First ODI Preview: India Vs Zimbabwe
The upbeat Indian team will play the first of the five-match ODI series of their Zimbabwe tour tomorrow, 24 July, at Harare Sports Club. A fairly new looking Indian side led by Virat Kohli is expected to start the series on a winning note and walk away with the trophy.

It is primarily the Indian bowlers who have been given rest, so the new looking Indian bowling line-up includes Amit Mishra, Parvez Rasool, Mohammed Shami, Vinay Kumar, Jaidev Unadkat and Mohit Sharma. Not all these players would get a chance tomorrow, but they should all get a chance mid way in the series, as the main objective of introducing these players in the international platform is to give them the much needed exposure in international cricket.

With the pitch expected to assist the slow bowlers, Amit Mishra, Jadeja and Rasool could well spell trouble for the Zimbabwe batsmen, if they get grip on the wicket. Rasool is expected to get a chance to make his debut at this pitch, which would be helpful for the spinners. The series is also going to test the character and discipline of Virat Kohli, as to how he will cope with an inexperienced bowling side.

The Indian team batting as usual looks a better batting unit with the likes of in-form players such as Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma having performed well in recent matches. If these players get going it is going to be very difficult for the Zimbabwe players to pose a serious challenge to the relatively less experienced Indian side.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe has some experienced players in their ranks, which will only help the team provided these players perform. Players such as Brendan Taylor, Hamilton Masakadza, Vusi Sibanda, Elton Chigumbura and Prosper Utseya seem to be names that have been playing for the African nation for many years. Their contribution to Zimbabwe cricket may not be monumental, but they are still respected among the cricket circles for having won a few matches here and there with their display.

The series would be used by many of the Indian players as a chance to impress the selectors and hence get a chance to represent India in the near future, not only against weak opponents, but also against top teams.
