First woman to buy Harley Davidson in India
33 year old Sreeja Matthews became the first proud owner of a Harley Davidson iron 883 in India. The Bengaluru based HR professional has also set an example for the other ardent female riders in the country.
THIRTY THREE year-old Sheeja Matthews has become the proud owner of this iconic cult motorcycle and she is India’s first woman who is sporting the powerful Harley Davidson Iron 883 bike.
Mathews, the Bengaluru based HR professional and a mother of one, has been riding her husband’s Rajdoot-Yamaha 350 for the last ten years. In a mood for change, she recently picked up her Harley Davidson Iron 883 from the Bengaluru based outlet of Harley Davidson and was surprised to learn that she also is the first woman to do so in the sub continent. The news was broken to her by the Harley Davidson officials at the outlet.
‘It is dream bike for me, I am happy one woman had bought it’ said an ecstatic Matthews who has been riding her Yamaha since college days. Taking example from her, other enthusiastic female riders too have expressed their desire of owning this machine.
It seems that women in India are turning from cars to bikes. Harley Davidson, the American cult bike maker set up assembly plant in India to cater the demands of people. The company offers a total of 15 models in India and is priced between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 38.66 lakh.
