Five-day gender sensitization workshop being organized in Maharastra
A five-day workshop on gender sensitization is being organized in Parbhani district in the Marathawada region of Maharashtra by Population First in collaboration with local NGO called Sankalp Foundation from 29th November to 3rd December, where 40 students from various colleges in Parbhani are taking part.

According to the press release, the objective of the workshop is to sensitize the students to gender issues and help them come up with effective communication material through street plays and songs to create awareness about the same.

"At the end of the workshop, students will develop a street play which will be performed at various colleges and schools across the district," stated A.L.Sharada, the Director of Population First.

Being the performing arts workshop on gender sensitization, the students from Mumbai's Nirmala Niketan, College of Social Work have been included in the workshop in which daily sessions are spread throughout the day from 10 AM to 10 PM that include the practice of various skills along the content on gender sensitization.

Manjul Bhadrwaj of Experimental Theatre Foundation, Mumbai, the key resource person of the workshop, has planned to take the participants through experiential processes connected with theater as a social communication and educational tool.

"Theatre of relevance is a philosophy which believes that the world can be changed by theatre and is being used and practiced all over the world. My use of the philosophy is to change the mindsets of the youth," stated Manjul. He has also included the theater management skills such as leadership, communication skills, and team building as a part of the workshop.
