Five-month old baby becomes a victim of father's cruelty and doctors' negligence
The indifferent attitude of doctors at a Rajasthan hospital hit a new low on the Republic Day when they refused to operate on a five-month-old baby saying that it is the weekend and they can't organize the operation.
A 36-years-old man, Bahadur Singh was drunk on the night of January 26, when he came home. He fought with his wife Santosh over some domestic issue. Watching them fight, their frightened children began to cry. The father beat up his three-year-old daughter Bhanwari and allegedly attacked the younger daughter Radha who is five-months old and bit off her nose, lips and cheeks in a fit of anger.
When the poor mother with the help of neighbors, rushed the baby to the Bikaner's district hospital, the doctors informed her that they do not have the expertise to operate on the girl and referred her to Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh hospital. But, the doctors at Sawai Man Singh hospital in
Jaipur reportedly sent the girl back to
Bikaner saying it is the weekend and they cannot organize her operation.
The father of the child, who is under judicial custody now, has been booked under the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children, a non-bailable offense. He has been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt through dangerous weapons or means) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of IPC, reported DNA.
The case has been taken up by the state children rights commission. The family has been offered financial assistance for the plastic surgery of the baby.
