Foiled attempt of robbery and incompetency of the police
It is a strange story yet not fiction. In Kolkata, robbers attack a household. The gagged victim sends a sms. Thana sends only two constables. Finally, local people create resistance and rescue the victim, while two constables look on.
THE POLICE forces are created to protect the citizens. But when they were called for help, they came and stood watching as spectators. Neighbors and relatives formed their own team and broke open the door. They chased away the armed dacoits in front of the police and were also able to overpower one of them.
My question to the home ministry is that after the Bombay incident it was announced that police will provide full protection to the citizens while the government will provide modern equipment to them. Yet the gun toting police man was standing and enjoying the scene while people were trying to foil the bid. In US every policeman is licensed to shoot the law offender without even a warning. Do not the police here have that power? During the Kolkata incident, when the dacoits fired the policeman had ample reason to shoot them back.
The question is what stopped them from doing so? Or is it that the police personnel were also involved in the dacoit bid? Did the local Thana know well about the dacoit and had a share in it?
Hearing that a house had been raided why no police force was sent? Only two constables were sent in order to assure the people and allow the dacoits to escape. We demand an answer as we feel dacoits were political party members who had state backing. It was due to this reason the policemen were inactive and stood looking on like spectators. These incidents are forcing us to think about setting up our own police team with arms in hand to protect our lives and property.
To assure us the police department should include the names of the two constables in the list of persons involved and should suspend the officer in charge of thana for not performing his duty in a proper way.
