Follow sincerely 'Coach-Assess-Remediate-Master' model for better student performance in external examinations: Workshop outcome
A one-day six-hour workshop, in which seven participants from CULP-NGO and teachers from local schools of Newel block of Rajasthan's Tonk district took part, resulted in a Coach-Assess-Remediate-Master (CARM) model of support to rural girls for upcoming board examination in March, 2017.

"Since rural government schools' girl students in Rajasthan had not been performing well in science, maths and English, it was thought to provide them academic support through the NGO sector for coming three months.

For this, a workshop to crystallize a model of coaching was envisaged. Now, a model of coaching, CARM, has been crystallized with four steps through which the academic support project will be implemented," said the key resource person Dr Lalit Kishore while concluding the workshop.

In the workshop, learning templates to deal with hard spots of learning were developed both to coach and chart of the progress of the students. The project will be evaluated through a before-and-after study design, informed Rama Sharma of CULP.

The workshop suggested that the coaching syllabus of 3 to 5 hard-spots of learning per chapter should be identified to be taken up in coming three months with diagnostic weekly testing and remediation. It was decided that coaching would be done for all the seven days and Sundays will be devoted to remedial teaching so that no learning gaps are left leading better performance.
