Christmas is all about giving and sharing happiness and keeping this in mind, Gurgaon Traffic Police has kicked off a noble initiative in the millennium city. The Gurgaon Traffic Police will be celebrating 'Joy of Giving Week' from 25th to 31st December, 2013 in all parts of the city. During this week, traffic police will distribute gifts to commuters and also donate items to under privileged people.
When asked Vishnu Dayal, ACP Traffic, he stated, “Gurgaon Traffic Police is working towards creating a comfort level and we want to take our relationship with the commuters to the next level. This is the key reason why we are celebrating 'Joy of Giving Week.' The initiative will take place in Gurgaon everyday for three to four hours from 25th to 31st December. The traffic police will talk to people with an intention of taking their feedback and how they would want us to improvise.''
He further added, “What we really want is that commuters and drivers should share their problems as well to prevent any mishaps on roads. We will be making conversations with them and distribute gifts.” However, he didn't reveal what they would be gifting people during this philanthropic act, except that the gifts would be something useful.
Asked about the criteria of picking someone to gift during the week, he said, “Gifts will be given to those who will be traveling responsibly on roads. Its not only thinking about yourself when you are driving but about others as well. We will distribute gifts to those who will be seen following traffic rules. For example - people driving with seat belts, not over speeding, etc. I hope 'Joy of Giving Week' will be loved by people of Gurgaon and this initiative can be termed as gift of Christmas. We will also donate useful things to underprivileged people to make this year- end special for them.”
Gurgaon Traffic Police is also inviting people to donate items like clothes, shoes, blankets, etc. One can walk into the Gurgaon Traffic Police office, located in sector 51 and donate items for the needy.
