Foodies Sprint on eve of Father's Day

On a buzzing Sunday afternoon on June 17, 40 enthusiastic folks ready to get eating, and over 200 odd onlookers, excitedly waiting to witness the biggest foodies in Delhi battle it out to be food champions, had an enjoyable evening at the first-ever Zomato Food Sprint at Select CITYWALK, in New Delhi.

ZOMATO, INDIA'S largest restaurant guide, in partnership with Select CITYWALK put Delhi’s appetite to test this Father’s Day with the first-ever Food Sprint held on Sunday, June 17, 2012.

Select CITYWALK, Delhi NCR’s premier shopping and entertainment destination, played host to this one-of-a-kind contest that had the best foodies in the city demonstrating their eating prowess. The contest had contestants engulfing cinnamon rolls at Cinnabon, burning their tongues with spicy rectangular pizzas at Bistro4U, getting a brain freeze with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Ice Blends, testing their chopstick skills at Mamagoto, gobbling dumplings at Chi and finally cooling off with signature flavors of Haagen-Dazs ice cream.

Out of 70 teams (with 4 members each), which had registered to be a part of this Food Sprint, 10 teams with the most innovation names and descriptions were selected to participate. Among the participants were major foodie groups like WTFDelhi and Eatlo in the Delhi NCR area. With such professional eaters at play and intense neck-to-neck competition, not one, but two winning teams were declared the food champions of the Food Sprint. The Gastronomads and The Foodonomists went back a happy lot with food vouchers, Zomato collectible mugs, Select CITYWALK goodies & a gift hamper from Alpenliebe. To further fuel their appetite, each participant also received a copy of the Citibank Zomato Restaurant Guide to discover more places to eat in Delhi NCR.

Zomato, founded in 2008, is India’s largest online restaurant and lifestyle guide listing over 30,000 restaurants across 10 cities in the country – Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh. Zomato was started by IIT Delhi alumni in July 2008 for Delhi NCR and has expanded its services to 10 cities in the country over a span of 3.5 years.
