Football Transfers: Juan Mata set for Manchester United move
Juan Mata is expected to undergo a formal medical procedure today for the much awaited transfer of the Spaniard to Manchester United from Chelsea. Mata is set to sign a four-and-half year deal at Old Trafford for an estimated GBP 37 million, which makes him the most expensive Manchester United signing ever.

Though, Mata's move was on the cards during the January transfer window, as he was primarily wasting his talent on Chelsea's bench, but there were rumoured interest from other top European clubs as well. Even Mourinho, the Chelsea manager was not a big fan of the player, so he allowed the highly rated played to leave Stamford Bridge. It has been reported that Chelsea has agreed a deal with Liverpool's long time target, Mohamad Salah for around GBP 12 million. Will he also be benched like Mata?

Manchester United banked upon the situation of Mata's recent frustration at Chelsea offering a decent deal, which Chelsea seems to have accepted. This is a wise move on Mata's part, as he also needs to play regularly with the 2014 World Cup coming soon, where he is an integral part of the Spanish side.

Manchester has been suffering under the new manager, David Moyes in their present EPL campaign, where they lie on seventh place, which is indeed embarrassing for the defending champions. With Mata's inclusion, Moyes expects the player to help Manchester United climb up the table in the second half of the season.

Though, title hopes for Manchester United may be over but they would hate to miss out on a Champions League spot, which also does not seem to be an easy task with a number of clubs such as Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham looking better to clinch the elusive Champions League spot.
