If you don't want to check out the numerous films that have been released this weekend, you can visit the theatre performances lined for this Saturday and Sunday. From hilarious, rib tickling comedy to intense drama, you can go catch them all.
IT'S TIME to smile for all those, who have a passion for theatre and also love to spend weekends going to music concerts, visiting art galleries and watching movies. After Jagjit Singh's concert 'Jashn-e-Malhaar' - A celebration of the rainy season in Delhi, the capital is all set to witness a cultural extravaganza with a series of plays lined in the next few days to satisfy the theatre afficianados. As the weekend starts the curtain will be lifted on a series of plays, performed and directed by well known theatre artists. Delhi is all set to welcome and taste the real spice of acting.
- Jaat hi Pooccho Sadhu ki, is a comedy play directed by Rajinder Nath. Known to be Vijay Tendulkar's funniest play, “Jaat hi...” deals with poor Mahipat, a person who faces caste discrimination and who struggles against it to find a suitable job. A comedy roller coaster which you will never forget.
Venue: Sammukh, NSD, Sept 4-6, 6:30 pm. Taj Mahal ka Tender: It is said that it took 20 years for Shahjahan to build Taj Mahal with more than 20,000 labourers. And if you think this was too much than hold on to your seat because Gupta ji, Special Advisor is here for Taj Mahal ka Tender with PA Sudhir and a Special Assistant besides Contractor Bhaiya ji. All the three are engaged in the planning of the Taj Mahal. Guptaji builds his building, hotel and then farm house but Taj Mahal? So, come and join this roller coaster ride of corruption, greed and laziness with a perfect twist of comedy. Venue: IHC, Sept 5, 6, 7:30 pm. Kya Karega Qazi: Fakhru, a completely illiterate barber tried his hands on poetry, administered horse medicine to a human and acted in a drama but could not afford to escape from his wife's taunting. What next is the real drama to watch. Venue: Alliance Francaise, Lodhi Estate, Sept 5, 7:30 pm. Kallu Nai MBBS: Kallu, is an alcoholic who beats up Luxmi (his wife) everyday. The very first thing which comes to the mind is, that this is a play dealing with domestic violence but there's something new. Luxmi, who is fed up of Kallu actually decides to take revenge and therefore, plots a dose of punches and slaps to make him sober. The USP of the plot is the idea how Luxmi gets him beaten up. Venue: Alliance Francaise, Lodhi Estate, Sept 6, 7:30 pm. Khamosh! Adalat Jari Hai: Directed by Avatar Sahni, this play deals with intense trial, where a woman accuses her own uncle of sexually abusing her. Khamosh! Adalat Jari Hai is a Hindi drama which will leave you Khamosh at the end of the play. Outstanding performance makes wit the perfect blend of real life story. Venue: Shri Ram Centre, Sept 4, 6:30 pm.
