For the first time ever Gurgaon to use solar power in some areas
Unable to generate adequate electricity for the city, Gurgaon's authorities are planning to take help from the Sun. In a recent meeting with The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the United States Department of Energy, HUDA, for the first time ever, plans to power a major part of city through solar energy.

RECENTLY, IN the Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy Park in Leisure Valley, eminent members of the community and government held a meeting to discuss solutions to run various renewable energy programmes successfully, reported The Times of India. In this meeting Praveen Kumar, Administrator, HUDA, was presented and supported the project called Green Ring Project, and gave many ideas."I will get solar panels installed in the city, especially in police stations and residential areas," said Kumar, reported TOI.

As per the reports this project will be including use of solar energy for lighting the campus areas of Gurgaon, adding more green belts in the city and waste management through composting; retrofitting existing structures; using green technology in new constructions and energy-efficient water pumping.

Based on renewable energy, the Green Ring Project will not be limited to Government areas, it will also reach private houses, and it will be part of new construction activity in Gurgaon, reported TOI. It also said that all builders and architects have been given instruction to follow the Green Ring project and install provisions for renewable energy in their newly construction of high rises.

To start with, currently this project will first be tried in sample areas - one kilometer from HUDA City Centre to Golf Extension Road, and from Sohna Road to Golf Course Road.

This can be a good initiative by the authorities to power at least some areas of city through solar power for the first time ever. It will help the city to save more electricity, which is already in great deficiency. Long power cuts also lead to water shortage, and so use of renewable energy will make the city more nature- oriented.
