Nigel Wark, who is also the Ford India executive director further said in order to cop with the rising production cost Ford has decided to increase the price of its another popular brand sedan Ikon by up to Rs 8000-/ for the diesel variant and Rs 7500-/ for petrol from September. From September the Ford Ikon petrol would be costing Rs 4.73 lakh while the diesel variant will cost Rs 532500 lakh. The Ikool model, which is a petrol variant will cost Rs 4.90 lakh and the diesel would cost Rs 549500 lakh from September.  

Nigel Work also said the flagship car Ikon’s sell has not faced the dust of recession and is surging dramatically; it is surging at 400 per cent on mothly basis. The company according to industry pandits will any how sustain the sale of 2008 as its India sale hasn’t been affected by the ghost of recession.
