Ford to Launch Small Car in 2010
Ford's proposed small car has been codenamed B517, this new hatchback will stand against the Hyundai I20 and the Suzuki Swift. The carmaker is considering to make India an export hub for its small car
FORD INDIA has confirmed on the inauguration its proposed small car by next year. The car has been codenamed B517.
This small car will be hatchback with four doors. The car will be powered by diesel engine and will be built at Ford’s Chennai unit.
The new hatchback will stand against the Hyundai I20 and the Suzuki Swift. Ford currently sells sedan and SUVs in the Indian market. Ford India is planning to increase the current capacity of its Chennai plant.
The US car company is also planning to launch the new Endeavour to taken on Toyota's Fortuner, which is expected to launch on 24th of this month.
The carmaker is considering to make India an export hub for its small car. The company is also stepping up focus on export markets such as Asia-Pacific and Africa.
It has been revealed that said the car giant has seen a significant increase in primary sales. The Endeavour and Ikon are the flagship models of Ford in India in the SUV and sedan segments, respectively.
