Forget reaching the US mainland, last year North Korea's rogue missile accidentally crashed near Pyongyang
North Korea's pursuit to acquire nuclear weapons and building missiles to launch them might have had a drastic impact on the world, but the collateral damage that it might cause to the hermit kingdom in the long-term can't be ignored.

One such pitfall that has come to light is the fact that in April 28, 2017, North Korea test fired a missile which went rouge and crashed into one of its own cities.

The missile that reportedly crashed, was a Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile that had earlier been test fired twice and had failed on both occasions.

During its third test, the missile failed once again, reportedly because its first-stage engines failed. But what made matters worse was the fact that the missile crashed into a complex of industrial or agricultural buildings in the city of Tokchon in North Korea, not far from the capital, Pyongyang.

Although, the fact that the missile had failed was known, but the location of the crash was unknown, until the revelation was made by the The Diplomat magazine. The Diplomat has substantiated its claims with Google Earth images.

What still remains a hidden secret is whether the crash caused any casualties, and if yes, how many! After all, it's North Korea, where the media is state-controlled.

The missile was once again launched in May and this time it successfully completed the test. While in the April crash, the missile had only managed to reach an altitude of 40 miles, in the successful May launch, it was able to cross an altitude of 1,245 miles. The launch has been followed by a couple of more successful tests which has left the United States of America fuming.
