YouTube people have recognised the fact that the age groups between 18 to 34 years tend to use their smartphones and watch Hollywood series such as Supernaturals, Modern Family and domestic series like Roadies etc. They are trying to create 96 additional YouTube channels. The users would be able to see any new video that goes up in their home page and they would be able to subscribe to the same by a simple click.
As far as the revenues go, the YouTube people are confident that good content will attract advertisers and bring back viewers. As per the reports of zeenews.india.com, the budget has already got some very big names such as director Justin Lin, creator Anthony Zuiker and Nancy Tellem, the former president of CBS entertainment interested in the project. ‘CSI’ creator Anthony Zuiker is pitching in the project looking at his own pre-teen sons, who spend more time on their iPads and smartphones than watching television. He is creating a horror series for the YouTube project. Some new channels such as Network A and Spanish-language Tutele have already been launched. YouTube hopes to have them all up and running by this summer.
According to analysts YouTube has taken the right decision at a very opportune time as videos’ watching is increasing by the day. There are other online channels that provide original content but YouTube is confident as they are giving immense control to the uploader and all their videos are less than the half an hour time slot allotted to television series. For now people and YouTube both are testing waters.
