Jaywant Yeshwant Lele, the former Secretary of the BCCI suffered a massive heart attack last night, which took away his life as well. At 75 years, he took his last breath in his residence in Vadodara.
Nayan Mongia, one of the most well known players from Vadodara
told PTI, "He had celebrated his 75th birthday with his friends. It is very unfortunate. He was like a father to me. I always used to consult him on various issues. He had guided me from the age of 12." It is not only Mongia, but also other players from the region that looked upto Lele and respected him.
Lele started his career from Baroda Cricket Association. One also needs to know that Lele apart from being an administrator was also a qualified umpire and a club-level cricketer.
He was a respected administrator during his time with the BCCI and was also known for his fearless views in the organisation. There were instances when he also spoke out against Indian cricketers, which also includes Kapil Dev, when he was the coach of the Indian team.
