Koda has been arrested reportedly for his failure to present himself before the State Vigilance Bureau, which had issued summons to him. Earlier, the former chief minister had also not responded to three notices issued by the Enforcement Directorate.
Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda was arrested on Monday by state vigilance sleuths in connection with a case relating to disproportionate assets. Koda, presently a member of parliament from Singhbhum was arrested around noon by West Singhbum police officials at his residence in Chaibasa.
Koda has been arrested reportedly for his failure to present himself before the State Vigilance Bureau, which had issued summons to him. Earlier, the former chief minister had also not responded to three notices issued by the Enforcement Directorate. Government agencies are probing Madhu Koda for orchestrating a scam worth thousands of crores, which involves money laundering as well creating disproportionate assets. Madhu Koda was the chief minister of Jharkhand from September, 2006 to August 2008 and he was the mines minister from August 2005 to september 2006.
It is alleged that during his reign as state mines minister and later as chief minister that Madhu Koda created a huge empire by indulging in corruption and other such practices.
