Former CM Virbhadra Singh booked for corruption
Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh and his wife have been booked in a corruption case. He termed the move as politically motivated aimed to spoil the image of the Congress and its various leaders
THE HEAT surrounding the arrest of Buta Singh’s son Sweety Singh in a corruption case has not settled and now there is another bad news for Congress, former chief minister of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh and his wife have been booked in a corruption case.
The Minister for Steel, Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pratibha have been booked by Himachal Pradesh Vigilance Bureau in an FIR filed on Monday (June 3). Both Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pratibha have been charged on various sections of the Prevention of Coruption Act-1988. This section of the prevention of Corruption Act deals with the wrongful use of official position and criminal conduct.
According to the officials of the State Vigilance Bureau, the case in question was filed by a former IAS officer SM Katwal. The former IAS officer SM Katwal has alleged that the CD released by former minister in the ministry of Virbhadra Singh, Vijay Singh in the year 2007, had voice of Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pratibha speaking to a retired bureaucrat Mohinder Lal regarding various deals and corruption in the state.

Veteran Congress leader Virbhadra Singh termed the move as politically motivated aimed to spoil the image of the Congress and its various leaders. He said BJP ruled government at the state is working towards maligning his and his family’s clean image to settle old political war.
One of the tallest figures of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh further added, “The FIR is a cheap gimmick, which shall disintegrate under its own weight. It is a frantic move to harm me and the Congress party through bogus and baseless accusations and unscrupulous vilification."
