Lok Sabha member and Former Union minister, Digvijay Singh, from Bihar, passed away on June 24 in a private hospital in London. He was 54 years of age. According to a family source he was undergoing treatment for brain hemorrhage in London.

Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi said, “ Digvijay Singh has been associated with the sports and Olympic movement for a long time. He has been a great sports administrator and an executive board member of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee.”
Kalmadi held that, the nation and Commonwealth Games will miss the service of Digvijay Singh.
Paying tribute to Digvijay Singh, Vice President Hamid Ansari said, “I am deeply grieved to learn about the sad demise of Digvijay Singh, former Union Minister and Member of Parliament. Singh served the people with distinction during his many years in public life and always worked for the upliftment of poor and the downtrodden.”
Digvijay Singh, won the Lok Sabha three times in 1998, 1999, and in 2009. He was also elected as Rajya Sabha member twice in 1990 and 2004. Digvijay Singh was a minister in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by former Prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He was educated at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Tokyo University.
